I am divided. There is not a single instance of KOF2001 being played for at least fifty miles in every direction (if not much further), I am sure of it. I also cannot a $300 neogeo device and a $300 game, at least for a couple more years. I know that I will be first in line to buy the game when it is ported to something (right now a PC port is known, and PS2 and DC are rumors), but normally I try to stay legit and use only roms for which I own the game (or at least a port of it), but it's so tempting. Hell, I'm gonna go looking for it.

SNK already has my money for a port of it, possibly multiple copies, not to mention for every DC game they have ever put out and most of the PSX ones, and a NGPC and all of its good games. I want to try it, just for a little while!

KOF2000 is coming out for the DC, and Playmore/SNK is bringing out Garou and Last Blade under their best of series. I think there's a good chance they'll bring out KOF2001 for the DC, if not for other systems as well (and the Japanese support 'dead' systems longer than the US market does.or so it seems). Good game, worth waiting for.

Maybe pester them to hurry up with a port, especially in light of KOF 2002 being worked on right now. BTW, the new characters are really neat, although they seem to have some of the KOF fanboys/traditionalists/diehards rather disgruntled. K9999 (K-Four9) is rather normalish (short range shoto with 3 Raging Pretzel motioned supers!). I haven't been able to mess with Angel or Foxy much.hope you guys can find an arcade machine with KOF2k1 on it soon.goood game. Quote: Fri, April 12 2002 - 9:51 AM by: Gabe I have seen mention on a few of the various forums I visit that there is now a King of Fighters 2001 ROM available. It certainly didn't take them long to dump it.

It's sad because Playmore really seems to be working hard to revitalize the Neo Geo brand. With the re-release of Mark of the Wolves and Last Blade 2 on the DC and rumors of KoF 2000,2001 and Metal Slug 3 on the PS2 things are certainly looking bright.

A KoF 2001 ROM can only hurt our chances of seeing those rumors become a reality. I never agreed with people who emulated Neo games but I could respect their point that they were not hurting anyone since SNK was so far in the crapper financially. I think it is important that we support their endeavors to breathe life back into the Neo Geo and it's games.

If Playmore sees that there is an audience for these titles on new systems like the DC and the PS2 the possibilities are endless. A whole new generation of gamers will finally be exposed to great games like Samurai Showdown, Metal Slug, and King of Fighters. It's only through the financial success of these games that we can ever hope to see new titles in these series like Mark of the Wolves 2 and Samurai Showdown 5.

Emmulation only serves to hurt the chances of these games ever becoming a reality. KOF2001 is coming out for the PC in order to wean people off of using roms, and I am all for it. Give me the game in a form I can afford, I don't care what platform, and I will stop using roms that very instant. Gabe's anti-rom stance is well known, but I don't think the absolutism is justified. Almost all of my SNK game purchases wouldn't have happened at all if I hadn't run the games emulated first, since no arcade I have ever been to has any of the newer (i.e.

Since 1994) MVS games. In the absense of any legal and affordable ways to play (or even see) the games at all, emulation filled the gap and made me the SNK fanboy I am today, owner of hundreds of dollars of SNK stuff. I am sure there are countless stories just like mine out there. [This message was edited by pointystick on April 12, 2002 at 17:30.].

With pirate game developers often attempting to cash in on various franchises, the arrival of King of Fighters 2000 on the SNES comes as no surprise. A ROM of the bootleg game has surfaced online, allowing gamers to (somewhat) enjoy this unorthodox release. Those with a keen eye will already be questioning this piece of retro gaming news, following the appearance of both Ryu and Cyclops in our screenshot. As usual, pirate game developers have been hard at work to include every possible known fighting game character from both the SNK and Capcom series (Including the Marvel appearances). While the game doesn't handle too well nor offer much gameplay, it's fantastic to see dedicated Super Nintendo fans archiving these pirate games for all to enjoy.
